Better I deem it, if my kinsmen strike,
To face them weaponless, and bare my breast
To shaft and spear, then answer blow with blow.
So speaking, in the face of of those two hosts,
Arjuna sank upon his chariot-seat,
And let fall bow and arrows, sick at heart.
In the beginning there was nothing and everything at the same time (anon)
Arjuna is distressed before a battle. Storm before sunshine. Definition of chaos before the order arrives in chapter-2. Chaos as the unifier. This is the piece of clay before shaping.
Fool. The inexperience of Arjuna matches 0. The togetherness of 0 and 1 reflects the duality of {nothing, everything}.
Magician heralds solution to Arjuna's distress. It is all one. Arjuna is not alone. Infinity sign reflects life and God. Four Tarot suits on the table; sword, stick, cup, 5-star. These are his tools of the trade. As he points out, he makes the whole thing. The wand in the right hand is curious, maybe reflecting earth-sky symmetry. A snake curls on his waist, indicating his cyclic nature. Stick is measure, sword is shaping operator, 5-star is geometry, cup for containing and balancing. Here is a Babylonian or Mesopotomian match,
When on high the heaven had not been named,
Firm ground below had not been called by name,
When primordial Apsu, their begetter,
And Mummu-Tiamat, she who bore them all,
Their waters mingled as a single body,
No reed hut had sprung forth, no marshland had appeared,
None of the gods had been brought into being,
And none bore a name, and no destinies determined--
Then it was that the gods were formed in the midst of heaven.
Lahmu and Lahamu were brought forth, by name they were called. (10)
Apsu, the god of fresh water, and his wife Mummu-Tiamat, the goddess of the sea; nothing-everything. Lahmu and Lahamu must be the next stage.
Jewish-Christian myth has the same {nothing, everything} mix;
Genesis
1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
1:2Now the earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep. God’s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.
